With its aim to recognize the accomplishments, innovations and improvement that technical vocational institutions have instituted beyond the minimum requirements set in the UTPRAS (Unified TVET Program Registration and Accreditation System), TESDA have launched TVET Star Rating System for technical vocational school all over the country.

Bulusan National Vocational Technical School (BNVTS) as one of the leading TESDA institutions in the region had applied for two qualifications including Dressmaking NC II and Tailoring NC II. Both qualifications have been rewarded with two (2) stars during the live audit last September 9, 2016 with three (3) auditors from the region such as Manglo Macabuhay Sese, Rhea ----, Joselyn Bumalay and one (1) from the industry, Philip Flores.

Having received two (2) stars means BNVTS’s Dressmaking NC II and Tailoring NC II have meet the standards substantially above the threshold of Competency Based Training (CBT) program delivery and program performance measures.

The auditors have checked the laboratory site and all pertinent documents as requirement for the rating. In the live interview with Vocational School Assistant administrator, Liberato Esteves; School Administration Head, Janet Dino and Dressmaking NC II and Tailoring NC II Instructor, Marivic Jeresano, they have emphasized the achievement of the goals and objectives of the program, the improvements in the curriculum for the recent years and meeting the requirement and guidelines for the rating system.

“With the collaborative effort of the trainees, instructor and the management plus the effective training and learning process for the qualification, it abled us to garner the star. For the past years, almost all of the trainees have been employed resulted to achieving the objective of the program having 65% employment rate”, Jeresano said explaining how they rewarded with two stars.

Furthermore, Jeresano stressed that documentation is essential for any kind of assessment audit.

BNVTS will undergo STAR Rating for the two qualifications after two years.
