TESDA-BNVTS Consultation Program against Illegal Drugs

Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Provincial Director Jose V. Serrano and  Bulusan National Vocational Technical School Technical Head Liberato F. Esteves Jr.  together with Hon. Mayor Michael Guysayko, PInsp. Mark Anthony Ferwes of Bulusan MPS, Anita Gallineto of DepEd, Cindy Jerao of RHU, Marian Caranza of MSWDO and Jennet Broqueza, PESO Manager (DOLE) were all present during the Training Consultation activity on Drug Surrenderees conducted at Bulusan Municipal Office,Bulusan,Sorsogon last November 15, 2016.

Along with the creation of inter-agency committee that will integrate efforts and improve the partnerships of stakeholders on the ongoing war against illegal drugs, Bulusan Municipal Police have identified twelve (12) affected areas of which 11 were recognized cleared; a total 109 drug surrenderees (as of Nov 2016) of which 50 of them were assessed and endorsed by DOH and MWSDO. On the other hand, TESDA is providing free cost of training which was also part of the directive to give skills and livelihood programs to the group.

Moreover, as part of TESDA’s role in employment facilitation, graduates will be referred to job and career fairs and entrepreneurship programs. The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) committed to take part to ensure and assist livelihood programs.

Throughout the consultation, the group ascended with a training plan which will start with a forum with invited speaker from credible rehabilitation center in the region and be sponsored by the Municipal Social Welfare Development Office. To make the forum more effective, a Training Induction Program (TIP) will be executed right after and training proper on the next day.

The collaborative effort is in support Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s war against illegal drugs and TESDA Circular on Institutionalizing Drug Abuse Prevention and Post Rehabilitation programs in all public and private Technical Vocational Institutions (TVIs) and TESDA Technology Institutions (TTIs). The stakeholders are all required to have close monitoring on the training implementation which is aforesaid as the first undertaking for post rehabilitation programs in the province.
