“Every donor is a hero. The blood you donate gives someone another chance of life.”. In the essence of giving and saving lives , the Rural Health Unit of Bulusan and Bulusan National Vocational Technical School (BNVTS) embarked on a Blood Letting Activity held on July 13, 2017 at TESDA Bulusan Function Hall.

In the spirit of life-saving gifts of blood, twenty-five volunteers wholeheartedly donated a bag of blood which will be forwarded to the provincial health office blood bank.

The annual event sheds light on the role played by blood donors in saving lives and improving the health of millions. The day also creates awareness about the availability, protection and proper use of blood and blood products. Municipal Health Officers provided lectures on the importance of bloodletting activities and value of being a donor. Moreover, they added topics on HIV/AIDS awareness.

This year’s theme “Give blood, give now, give often”. The campaign underlines the role every single person can play in helping others in emergency situations, by giving the valuable gift of blood. It also focuses on the fact that it is important to give blood regularly, so that the blood stock is sufficient before an emergency arises.

The Rural Health Unit medical officer in charge conducted interviews and physical exam to ensure that the donors are healthy and ready for the life-saving activity.
